This year, we are promoting reading throughout the school and each child has been given a reading journal. We would encourage the children to read for between 10 and 15 minutes every day and record a comment about their reading in their journals. Please ensure these are in school every day.
As part of our Healthy Schools focus, all children require a clearly labelled bottle of fresh drinking water every day.
Pupils are allowed to bring squash or flavoured water for consumption at lunchtimes only.
High sugar content drinks, such as energy drinks and fizzy pop, are not allowed.
Thank you for your cooperation with our school policy.
OUR LEARNING JOURNEY FOR THE AUTUMN TERM
Here, you can find out about what we have been learning about during the Autumn term.
PSHE - Getting On and Falling Out
Our topic for PSHE this half term is looking at ways that we can stay friends with each other and what to do if we feel ourselves getting angry. Our favourite activity from the day was creating a friendship web. One at a time we had to hold onto the piece of wool and pass it to someone and say a nice comment about them. The more times this is done the more intricate the web becomes.
We are all connected because we are all friends.
In Maths we have been learning how to take away. Some of us used base 10 cubes to help us learn about exchanging.
During our maths lessons we applied our understanding of addition and subtraction by playing some games. This makes sure that we have a really good understanding of how and why we have to add and subtract.
Britain from the Air
We have been using papier mache to create Hot Air Balloons as the launch to our Curriculum topic.
Watch this space for the finished art work!
Bonfire Night Art
Year 4 used blow painting to create some amazing firework art. We had to think carefully about how thick the paint was and what colours would stand out the most.
